Some questions frequently asked by users : what do you think about preprimary and primary grades not allowing children to be active learners?
being naturally active, young children need movement in their education to make learning come alive. gabbard examined the relationship between early brain development and motor development. gabbard’s findings are that the “window of opportunity” for the development of basic motor patterns begins to close by age five and close for fine motor movements by age nine. garcia et al. argue that movement programs in early childhood help children establish physical competence and the foundation for healthy, active lifestyles. they argue that through everyday movement activities children also progress in emotional, social, and cognitive development. fine motor skills too come more easily for children who have established healthy patterns of basic body movement. but, vigorous total body activity, on a regular basis, must happen first. (source: a guidance approach for the encouraging classroom 4th edition by dan gartrell, chapter 6: managing the encouraging classroom, pg. 204, section "the need for physical activity" second paragraph).what should we do to teach this class?
ok. so we have to teach the class as our final assessment. we have to tell them about how drugs are bad and aren't good for etc(it's for character education.) anyways, we were thinking about making a slideshow and a worksheet to go along with it. then a video, and then assign them homework. is that enough? (40 minute class) tell me your suggestion about what to do!16 year old son has started to become irritated and agitated and just plain moody?
my son started school last monday and he has started to become very irritated and agitated and just plain moody. he has been getting maybe 30mins of sleep a night if that. nothing works to help him sleep melatonin lunesta nothing seems to help it. and when he comes home he goes straight to his room and more or less locks himself in there away from the entire family. i am not sure what to do my son and i have a very very close bond and he has always told me everything. but now he has shut himself down to me and everything. i am at a lose with him advice? he has not had that much homework so far it is just some syllabuses that i have had to sign and some worksheets. and he is a junior in high school. he is on the track and swim team. and he does have a girlfriend has had the same one since he was 12. i am not sure if my son is sexually active or not to tell you the truth. but for some reason it would not surprise me. and i highly doubt drugs are involved because my son went to alaska over the summer for vacation. and he chose to come back early because his cousins were doing pot and meth.early childhood teachers help please!?
i will be starting as a ect this upcoming year. i have been asked to lead the preschool room now that is all great, but i am a qualified primary teacher and will be undergoing my early childhood teaching diploma this year. pretty much.. i'am blind as a bat and i want to know what i should prepare. as in, programming etc. thank you!help with homeschooling/cyber schooling?
i'm pregnant so i know i'm worrying way too early, but i've begun to think about schooling my little one. my husband and i both agree that our child will not be going to public school, but i'm thinking about doing cyber school. any thoughts about a specific online school? as far as i've learned there are free ones but most christian ones involve tuition and fees. anyone know of any free ones with christian courses or that do not go against the bible; such as science classes that teach the big bang theory or evolution? please don't go bashing me for wanting to raise my children in a christian home and teach them the bible. i'm not asking for your parenting advice about how i'm so wrong for raising my children this way. i was raised in a public school without any real christian background and by husband was raised with christian parents and was homeschooled and we both want our kids to be raised like he was. also i know that online school is still technically "public school" but i would feel more comfortable if our children were being educated in our own home. by the way, i live in pennsylvania if that helps. thanks! pa cyber charter school is a very good free online school. they're considered online public schools so they are at no cost (because they are public). and i know how a lot of kids get socially weird and i was so against homeschooling because i thought it made kids weird until i met my husband. and you would never know he was homeschooled unless he told you.
